Second Nature Guild Charter
Four Pillars of Second Nature:
- All members are driven to succeed.
- The guild must stay organized.
- The guild will not tolerate drama.
- Members are rewarded based on effort and achievement.
All members are driven to succeed.
This guild has one purpose: Clear end-game content. We are all here to have fun and this is how we define it. All other values are secondary to this goal. All activities that interfere with this goal will not be tolerated. To this end, we MUST be able to rely on each other. Every member must be able to rely on every other member. We MUST be able to rely on each other or our task is lost. All of us must come fully prepared to as many raids as we can and maintain 100% focus throughout the raid.
Focus during raids. Each member has a responsibility to maintain focus during raids. To do this, all distractions must be minimized and all thought must concentrate on the encounter at hand. If a member cannot function at this level they have a responsibility to him/herself and fellow guild mates to remove themselves from the raid. We all will have situations in which such an action is the best decision and this will not be looked down upon. If an officer deems a raid member is not contributing 100% to the raid this person will be removed and possibly penalized.
PreparednessIn addition, each member must be fully prepared for the planned encounter at the appropriate time. This entails arriving with all potions, flasks, elixirs, enchants, gear sets, macros, UI addons, and fully repaired 10 minutes prior to raid start at the designated instance portal. Repeated failures will result in DKP penalties and guild removal.
ParticipationAs a smaller guild we rely heavily on each and every member. Thus, we all must be fully committed to participating in the guild and on an almost daily basis. This yields both consistency and dependability to our raids. We require 60% raid participation for all our members. Limitations on items and member benefits are imposed at 60% raid attendance. Maintaining a lower level of participation will result in removal from the guild.
ExcellenceFundamental to our goal is the skill and knowledge of each member. Each member must know and understand every nuance of their class and talent spec. Failure to understand advanced class and game mechanics will not be tolerated. Familiarity with macro construction and UI addons is also required by all. To advance to the end-game, we all must be willing to do everything we can to maintain excellence in our individual roles.
The guild must stay organized.
Organization is the only way to maintain our guild. With organization comes expectations and long-term success.
Website/VentriloOur website is fundamental to our organization. Without it our functions would be greatly disabled. It is the expectation of the members and responsibility of the officers to maintain the website and Ventrilo host.
Raid SignupsMembers are expected to utilize the Raid Signup Addon on the website. Raids are the lifeblood of our guild. As mentioned above, we maintain a small roster of people and therefore rely heavily on each individual member to sign up and show up for raids. Raids are canceled when even one key member fails to log on when needed. To avoid this, the Raid Signup is tied into our DKP bonuses and penalties. Details can be found in our policies.
ForumsForums are the primary way we communicate outside of the game. Each member is expected to participate in discussions of new encounters in the Raid Strategy Forum. Member Forums provide a venue for general comments and suggestions to the guild. Inappropriate use of the forums will not be tolerated.
DKPOur DKP addon is maintained on a minute-to-minute basis by the officers. All errors and conflicts should be directed to them via PMs for individual errors or via the Member forums for systematic concerns. Explanation towards the system that we used is covered in a later section.
The guild will not tolerate drama.
We are well aware that people will have interpersonal conflicts. To add to this, we recognize that the anonymous nature of the internet reduces inhibitions and amplifies emotions. However, when these conflicts interfere with our primary goal, they are a detriment to our guild and will not be tolerated. All members are expected to act in a mature manner. Should conflicts between guild members arrive at an impasse, Officers should be contacted to step in as an attempt to defuse the situation.
Forums and Chat ChannelsAs an online entity our guild relies on its online reputation. All members will be held to a no-drama standard in game, on our forums and on all other forums. Initiating, responding to, or escalating drama will not be tolerated. Officers are at liberty to judge forum content left by members. Failure to maintain tact on forums will be met with removal from the guild.
RaidingIf members have conflicts with other members they are expected to deal with them in a manner that does not interfere with raid success. Members are expected to buff, heal, and protect all members of a raid regardless of personal feelings. Failure to put away petty differences for the sake of the raid is an affront to the guild as a whole and will be met with swift retribution.
Members are rewarded based on effort and achievement.
Rewards will be based on contribution. Items are distributed via a DKP system that has evolved over 3 years of raiding and has adapted to many changes in the way WoW generates items. The primary goal is to distribute loot to members who have contributed the most. However, our DKP system also recognizes that gear must be used efficiently to succeed in future content. It also tries to factor in gear restrictions based on class, e.g. Holy Paladins can use the same armor that Holy Priests can, but the converse is not true. Extensive details can be found in our DKP post in the Members Forums.
